Bruno
Sacha Baron Cohen goes too far in a comedy that shocks rather than entertains.
Who's in it? Sacha Baron Cohen
What's it about? A flamboyant Austrian fashionista Brüno takes his show to America.
What type of film is it? Comedy
Is it any good? I have to admit that I don’t know where to start with this one. To start off with, most of the funniest bits, which are very funny, are in the trailer – a few new ones sneak through into the main feature but not enough. Secondly there are too many jokes that don’t work. Thirdly there are too many moments that will have you holding you head in your hands in disbelief rather than holding your sides in hysterical laughter. That’s not to say that there aren’t funny moments here because there are some really choice moments but they are lost in the mix of purile and often uncomfortable moments that really are below what you’d expect from the team behind this. Having loved the guilty pleasure that was Borat, as politically incorrect as it was, so I was really looking forward to this but sadly I think shocking is the only word I can use to describe this film. By trying to push the envelope I think SBC might have actually nudged it off the table of respectability.

(19/07/2009 17:44:44) Borat was a "guilty pleasure" but yet you found Transformers 2 to be a solid movie? Time to hang up your hat. |

Epically long run-on sentence. They should use this as the subtitle for the next film. |
